EDUCATION

Conway holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Temple University’s Boyer College of Music & Dance. They are currently in pursuit of a second Vocal Performance degree, this time a Master of Music with an Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy, from NYU Steinhardt. Notably, Conway also spent four years at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, picking up an Honors Regents Diploma on their way out.

ORIGINS

A native New Yorker, Conway hails from the great borough of Brooklyn. They have been singing along to Gilbert & Sullivan since they could speak, riding the subway unattended since they were old enough for a green student MetroCard, and working with children since they decided they could facilitate their siblings’ bedtimes better than a babysitter.

PANDEMIC ERA

Upon the shutting down of in-person artistic endeavors circa 2020, Conway found themself in a bit of a pickle — they had just been instated as Music Director of Temple University’s on-campus musical theater cabaret club, Broadway on Broad. In the face of adversity, Conway spearheaded the effort to flip BoB’s format to a completely virtual one while maintaining its usual output of 3 cabarets each semester. Conway themself is responsible for a combined 36% of the club’s virtual performance materials (here’s one of the best!).

AROUND TOWN

Currently, Conway is an adjunct instructor of voice at NYU, and a faculty member at the Church St. School for Music & Art, teaching voice and chorus. Through the Church St. School, they direct the Grade 4 chorus program at P.S. 234. Conway also teaches Mommy & Me toddler music classes at the Upper East Side’s beloved Art Farm.
